Nordic Harmony

Harmony in the ancestral Nordic perspective

The concept of Harmony was central to ancient Norse philosophy, religion, and mythology. The Norse believed that balance was essential for maintaining the proper functioning of the world, and they emphasized the importance of individual roles in achieving this balance.

The Old Norse term for harmony is "fagrahvél" which is derived from the words "fagr" meaning fair or beautiful and "hvél" meaning wheel or device. It is often used to describe a state of balance in various contexts, such as in music, society or nature. In Norse mythology, the concept of fagrahvél is closely associated with the idea of the "Golden Age" or the ideal state of existence that was believed to have existed in the past and would return after Ragnarok, with the reborn of Baldur, the god of Light and Purity.
